Job summary

UNC Health in Pittsboro is seeking a certified Medical Assistant I to provide routine clinical and administrative support in an outpatient clinic. The MA I works under the supervision of a provider and clinic manager to deliver patient care and perform non-clinical duties.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, taking vitals, collecting history, assisting with procedures, phlebotomy, medication administration, and coordinating tests and referrals.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assisting program is strongly preferred but not required.
• Certification by AAMA/AMT/NCMA/NCMA/NCHN is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Rooming and intake with vital signs and visit reason.
• Collects patient history and current meds.
• Assists providers during treatments and procedures.
• Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection.
• Administers medications under supervision.
• May perform tests (EKG, eye exams) under supervision.
• Ensures exam rooms are stocked and ready.
• Provides post-visit instructions and education.
• Registers patients and schedules tests/referrals.
• Answers clinic calls and assists in-basket.
