Job summary

UNC Health is seeking a Medical Assistant II, Certified to provide routine clinical and administrative support in an outpatient clinic setting. You will work under the supervision of a provider and clinic manager to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality care.

The role includes rooming, vitals, phlebotomy, medication administration, basic tests, and patient education. The position requires certification and one year of MA experience, with per diem hours and onsite work in Chapel Hill,

Qualifications

• Ability to perform essential functions of the position as outlined.
• Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Engage positively with patients and families and work as a team with staff and providers.
• Ability to use a computer to document required information into the EMR.

Responsibilities

• Rooming and intake including vital signs and patient data collection.
• Reviewing medications, allergies, and pharmacy preferences.
• Assist providers during treatments and procedures.
• Phlebotomy and specimen collection.
• Administer medications under provider direction.
• Perform tests (e.g., EKG, eye exams).
• Ensure exam rooms are stocked and ready for visits.
• Provide patient education and after-visit instructions.
• Assist with registration, scheduling, and referrals.
• Support in emergency situations as directed.
