Job summary

UNC Health in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Medical Assistant I, Certified to provide routine clinical and administrative support in an outpatient clinic. You will work under the supervision of a provider for patient care and under the clinic manager for non‑clinical responsibilities.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, collecting vital signs, reviewing medications, assisting with procedures, phlebotomy, and scheduling referrals. Certification by AAMA/AMT/NCMA and BLS are required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and collect vital signs, height, weight, and visit reason.
• Review patient medical history and current medications.
• Assist provider during treatments and procedures as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens.
• Administer medications under provider direction.
• Conduct routine tests (e.g., EKG, eye exams) under supervision.
• Ensure exam rooms have supplies and educational materials.
• Register patients, check in/out, schedule tests and referrals.
• Answer clinic calls and assist the nurse as needed.
