Job summary

Mercy Health in Youngstown, OH is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to join the Cardiac Team at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. This full-time role supports surgeons and nurses in the OR, ensuring sterile technique and timely instrument preparation.

The position requires graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program and NBSTSA certification. Shifts include days with rotating call; 40 hours weekly with varied start times.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program is required.
• Completion of BLS and NBSTSA certification preferred upon hire.
• Experience in cardiovascular operating room is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Functions as the scrub person during operative procedures and assists with supplies.
• Prepares sterile field, instruments, and participates in counts with circulating nurse.
• Maintains aseptic technique and supports the surgical team throughout cases.
• Assists with post-procedure cleaning and room turnover as part of the team.
• On-call availability as scheduled and adapts to staffing needs.
