Job summary

Responsibilities include instrument counting, specimen handling, and room preparation. Requires Associate Degree in Surgical Technology and CST/ NBSTA/TS-C/NCCT certification with BLS preferred; on-call availability is expected.

Qualifications

• Must be certified as CST, NBSTA/TS-C or NCCT (required)
• BLS certification preferred upon hire; must obtain prior to direct patient care
• Associates Degree or higher in Surgical Technology required

Responsibilities

• Scrub person during operative procedures; assemble supplies and equipment.
• Prepare and organize sterile supplies and instruments; perform surgical counts with circulating nurse.
• Maintain sterile field; assist with draping and provide instruments to the team.
• Retrieve and label specimens accurately.
• Report implanted devices, catheters, drains, and packing.
• Prepare and clean operative room before/after procedures; maintain aseptic technique.
• Be accessible on on-call schedules and respond within department time frames.
• Participate in staff orientation and ongoing competency activities.
