Job summary

Mercy Health - Youngstown, OH is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for the Cardiac Team at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. The role supports surgeons and nurses with sterile technique, equipment prep, and instrument setup.

Responsibilities include scrub duties, sterile field maintenance, specimen labeling, and assisting with pre/post procedure setup. On-call availability and a rotating shift schedule are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited surgical technologist program.
• 2 years of experience in an operating room (required).
• Cardiovascular operating room experience preferred.
• Certified: NBSTSA OR CSFA within 1 year of hire/transfer.
• BLS certification preferred upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Functions as the scrub person and assists during operative procedures by assembling supplies and equipment.
• Prepares and organizes sterile supplies and instruments; performs surgical counts with circulating RN.
• Maintains sterile field; assists with drapes and provides instruments to the team.
• Retrieves and labels specimens; reports implanted devices and catheters as needed.
• Completes case setup/room turnover as part of the surgical team and supports on-call scheduling.
