Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for the Inpatient Surgery unit at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital. The role supports the surgical team by preparing sterile instruments, maintaining asepsis, and assisting with instrument handling during procedures.

Requirements include CST/NBSTSA/NCCT certification and an Associate degree or equivalent in Surgical Technology; BLS is preferred. Shift is Days/Afternoons with on-call and rotating weekends/holidays.

Qualifications

• Must be certified as CST/NBSTSA or TS-C nominations (TS-C not accepted in Cincinnati) or NCCT.
• BSMH policy aligned with sterile techniques and clinical standards.
• Completed Surgical Technology credential is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or required prior to patient care.

Responsibilities

• Functions as the scrub person and assists during procedures by assembling supplies and equipment.
• Prepares sterile supplies and instruments and performs surgical counts with the circulating RN.
• Maintains sterile field and aids in draping; passes instruments and maintains asepsis.
• Retrieves and labels specimens and reports implanted devices to the circulator.
• Assists with pre/post-procedure cleaning and supports patient safety and care measures.
