Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to facilitate operative and invasive procedures by preparing sterile instruments, maintaining the sterile field, and assisting the surgical team. You will handle supplies, perform counts, and ensure aseptic technique throughout cases.

With certification and perioperative experience, you’ll contribute to patient safety, participate in on-call shifts, and support ongoing education and competency verification as part of a dedicated team.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree, Vocational Certification, or Military Certificate in Surgical Technology (required)
• One year of perioperative, operating room, or related military surgical technology experience (preferred)
• Must be certified by CST, NBSTA or TS-C, NCCT (required)
• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain prior to direct patient care)

Responsibilities

• Scrub person during operative and invasive procedures; assemble supplies and equipment.
• Prepare sterile supplies and perform surgical counts with the circulating RN.
• Maintain sterile field and provide instruments to the team during procedures.
• Retrieve and label specimens; report implanted devices or catheters as needed.
• Prepare case and adapt instrument needs for patients; maintain aseptic technique.
• Assist in CPR and assist with pre/post procedure cleaning of the room.
