Job summary

South Shore Health in Norwell, MA is seeking a Central Scheduling professional for the SMC Central Scheduling team. You will handle inbound calls, schedule patient appointments, verify demographics and insurance, and respond to website and fax inquiries.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent with 1 year of medical office experience; Epic experience preferred. Hours are M–F, 8:00–4:30, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and customer service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two years of college are preferred.
• One year medical office experience is required.
• Epic experience is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills and knowledge of EMR systems; familiar with insurance rules.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for inbound calls to Central Scheduling.
• Schedule patient appointments following provider templates and confirm details.
• Verify demographic and insurance information; process requests like refills.
• Update patient registrations and assist with rescheduling as directed.
• Answer calls promptly and end with a helpful closing question.
• Collaborate with administrative and clinical staff in the department.
• Maintain knowledge of scheduling rules and department procedures.
• Learn and perform operator functions to support the team as needed.
• Assist with training of new employees upon request.
• Maintain a neat, orderly work area and productive pace.
• Adhere to SSMC mission and policies in daily work.
• Support special assignments and document tasks accurately.
