Job summary

USO in Houston seeks an operational coordinator to manage daily Center procedures, ensure a safe and welcoming environment and support programs and events for service members and families. You will coordinate volunteers, handle inventory, budgeting, and reporting, and work with local partners to deliver services.

The role requires 2+ years in event management or related field, strong customer service skills, and proficiency with MS Office and social media.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years work experience in event management, marketing, retail, customer service, recreation facility or related role.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office; familiarity with volunteer management software and social media.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and handle confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Execute day-to-day Center operational procedures, ensuring a cost-effective, safe, welcoming and clean environment.
  • Engage with Center visitors and act as subject matter expert about amenities, tours, classes, programs and services.
  • Help maintain Center operations within budget and report on inventory and cash; provide data for reports.
  • Create and maintain an SOP file detailing local procedures and Center activities.
  • Plan and oversee programs, logistics, inventory management, budget and communications as directed.
  • Assist with program communications, announcements and photos for social media and website while following USO guidelines.
  • Support planning and evaluation of USO programs and events on and off installations.
  • Develop relationships with the U.S. Military, community leaders, partners and donors to support program delivery.
  • Coordinate resources for programs and oversee volunteer participation.
  • Direct volunteers through application process and coordinate training and recognition events.
  • May operate a USO vehicle; perform other duties as assigned.
