Job summary

Ash Grove Cement in the United States is seeking a Production Manager to oversee planning, organizing, and scheduling of the production department. The role ensures clinker and cement production aligns with quality specs and plant goals, coordinating shipping, maintenance, and quarry activities.

The candidate will supervise a medium-sized production team, promote safety, and manage training, with involvement in budgeting and operational improvements across the plant.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of supervisory experience in a production department of a cement plant.
• Ability to read, write and understand warning labels and instructions.
• Proficient in English written, verbal communication, and listening skills.
• Ability to lead/manage others.
• Knowledge of production operations in cement manufacturing and related machinery.
• Knowledge of air permit regulations and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Promotes and follows all plant safety guidelines.
• Plans and schedules mill and kiln operations with maintenance, quality control, shipping, and production employees.
• Coordinates production activities to ensure shipping, maintenance, and quarry alignment with schedules.
• Supervises, evaluates, and inspects work by employees and contractors; tracks attendance.
• Establishes and communicates job responsibilities and schedules for production staff.
• Assists control room operators and shift supervisors to resolve operational problems.
• Coordinates incoming shipments of alternative fuels (e.g., TDF) and other fuels.
• Directs shipping in coordinating railroad and trucking activities to ensure efficient processing.
• Oversees plant construction projects and safety equipment provisioning.
• Provides reports to Plant Manager on operations and manpower status.
