Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a CDL driver to operate residential and recycling collection trucks on scheduled routes. You will load waste and recyclables, perform pre/post-trip inspections, and maintain accurate route records.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid CDL, and at least one year of commercial driving experience. You will work outdoors, in variable weather, and follow all safety regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED desired.
• Must possess a Commercial Driver's License
• Minimum one (1) year of commercial driving experience OR CDL school certificate
• Must be able to meet relevant criteria for safety sensitive functions according to Company standards
• Must be able to demonstrate the ability to safely drive the truck and operate the equipment

Responsibilities

• Operate residential/recycling collection truck on the assigned route.
• Load waste and recyclables into the vehicle.
• Operate compaction equipment to compact trash.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections and required reports.
• Notify supervisor of any vehicle mechanical issues immediately.
• Maintain route quality standards as directed by management.
• Follow all safety standards and company policies on safety and vehicle operation.
• Keep the vehicle clean inside and outside.
• Identify prohibited waste and remove it from the cart or bin.
• Supervise assigned helpers if applicable.
• Adhere to all laws and company directives and wear required PPE.
• Report accidents immediately and maintain accurate service records.
• Exhibit professional demeanor and appearance on route or in uniform.
• Maintain inventory of containers and spare parts and advise on purchases.
• Collaborate with supervisor to improve routing efficiencies.
• Overtime may be required
• Attend safety and branch meetings.
• Perform other duties as required by management.
