Job summary

FedEx Freight in Oregon is seeking a CDL-equipped driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and straight trucks, delivering between service centers. You will also perform dock work as needed and handle pre/post-trip inspections, logs, and documentation.

Responsibilities include safe driving day and night, adherence to DOT regulations, hazmat handling where required, and providing customer service on a daily basis. Overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Must meet DOT regulations under FMC 391
• Ability to count and perform basic math
• Basic written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers that require an average lift force of approximately 100 pounds
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in and out of truck
• Must possess a class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or a commercial learning permit (CLP) prior to entering job classification

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer including doubles and/or straight trucks
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer
• Maintain accurate daily logs
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports
• Communicate with Dispatch and follow instructions
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding as required
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service
• Perform forklift/dock operations as needed
• Forklift and hand-truck handling
• Chain vehicle tires
• Follow laws and company policies
• Perform other duties as required
