Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a CDL-A driver to operate tractor-trailer units, including doubles, between service centers and turn-points. You will complete pre-trip inspections, maintain logs, and document reports, while following Dispatch instructions and DOT rules.

The role may include forklift and dock work, overnight schedules, and other duties as needed. This is a full-time position with FedEx Freight's nationwide network and equal opportunity employment.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A or CDL learner permit (CLP) before entry into job classification.
• Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) per hiring standards.
• DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR Part 391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math (with or without a calculator).
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers with ~100 lbs lift repeatedly.
• Ability to sit for extended periods.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies as required.
• Maintain accurate daily logs and required documentation.
• Communicate with Dispatch and follow instructions on delays or issues.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding as needed.
• Demonstrate customer service to internal and external customers.
• May perform city driver or freight handler duties as needed.
• Handle freight with equipment like forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck as required.
• Chain vehicle tires when necessary.
• Follow all laws, regulations, and company policies.
