Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is hiring a CDL driver to operate tractor-trailer units, including doubles and straight trucks, and to deliver trailers between service centers. You will perform safety checks, log compliance, and coordinate with Dispatch while providing customer service.

The role may require occasional city driving or freight handling duties, including forklift operation, with benefits including health coverage and a 401(k). Hours vary, and starting pay is posted.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL or a commercial learning permit (CLP).
• Must have a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets hiring standards.
• Must comply with DOT regulations under FMC rules.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift and maneuver trailers with average lift force ~100 lbs.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and perform physical tasks.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch and follow instructions.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding accordingly.
• Provide internal and external customer service.
• May perform city driver or freight handler duties as needed.
• Handle freight using equipment like forklift or pallet jack.
• Chain vehicle tires as required.
• Follow all laws and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
