Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a driver to operate tractor-trailers (including doubles) and perform dock and non-driving duties as needed. The role emphasizes safety inspections, accurate logs, and compliance with hazmat regulations. Excellent driving record and ability to work independently or in a team are essential.

Starting pay is $29.29 per hour, with potential increases and benefits. Overnight stays may be required for some schedules, and the work supports service centers and turn-point

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL or commercial learning permit (CLP) prior to entering job classification.
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under FMC 391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers requiring 100 lb lift repeatedly.
• Ability to sit, bend, twist, squat, and climb in/out of a truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor or trailer.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch and follow instructions on delays, arrivals, or equipment problems.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding as required.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• Where needed, perform city driver or freight handler duties.
• Operate freight handling equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Chain vehicle tires when required.
• Comply with applicable laws and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
