Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and straight trucks, with emphasis on safety and documentation. Responsibilities include pre/post-trip inspections, loading and securing freight, and communicating with Dispatch on delays or issues.

Starting pay is $29.29 per hour, with opportunities up to $34.89 per hour. Benefits include health, vision, dental; 401(k); paid time off; and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL required and clean MVR per hiring standards.
• Ability to pass DOT regulatory requirements under FMC regulations.
• Basic math and writing skills for documentation.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations including doubles or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight with forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps and rope.
• Recoup or repair damaged freight when needed.
• Complete required documents and reports accurately.
• Collect checks for freight charges and maintain documentation.
• Ensure hazmat placarding matches shipments as required.
• Coordinate with Dispatch on delays, arrivals, or equipment issues.
• Provide internal and external customer service.
• Determine customer pick-up or delivery needs.
• Solicit additional business leads for sales opportunities.
• Perform road driver or freight handler duties if needed.
• Chain tires and comply with all laws and company policies.
