Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking qualified drivers to operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and straight trucks, delivering between service centers and turn-point locations. The role may include non-driving duties such as forklift operation and dock work.

Starting pay is $26.84 per hour, with a pay range of $26.84 to $31.97 hourly, and comprehensive benefits. Overnight schedules may apply and are subject to variation. FedEx Freight is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL or commercial learner permit (CLP) prior to entering job classification.
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR Part 391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers that require an average lift force of ~100 pounds.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch regarding delays, arrivals, equipment problems, etc.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding as required.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• Occasionally perform city driver or freight handler duties as needed.
• Freight handling using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck when required.
• Chain vehicle tires, as required.
• Follow all laws/regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
