Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a CDL driver to operate tractor-trailer combos, including doubles, and perform duties at service centers and turn-points. You will complete safety inspections, logs, and required reports.

Starting pay is $27.26 per hour with opportunities to work overnight shifts and train in dock responsibilities such as forklift handling. The role requires adherence to DOT regulations and strong safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or a commercial learning permit (CLP) prior to entering job classification.
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier (FMC) regulations.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers that require an average lift force of approx. 100 pounds, several times a day.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with and follow Dispatch instructions regarding events including delays, arrivals, equipment problems, etc.
