Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL or a commercial learning permit (CLP) before entering the job classification.
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR Part 391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to ~100 pounds repeatedly.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and maneuver in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor–trailer combinations, including doubles or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook up and detach trailers and dollies as needed.
• Handle freight with forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and ropes.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports accurately.
• Collect payments and maintain related freight charge records.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding requirements.
• Follow Dispatch instructions and communicate delays or equipment issues.
• Provide internal and external customer service and determine pickup/delivery needs.
• Suggest additional business leads to sales when appropriate.
• May perform road driver or freight handler duties as needed.
• Chain tires as required.
