Job summary

FedEx Freight in Ohio is seeking a professional driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and straight trucks, and to perform related duties on the dock or forklift operations when required.

Responsibilities include safety inspections, daily logs, documentation, and complying with hazmat and DOT regulations. Overnight schedules may be required; starting pay is $27.26 per hour.

Qualifications

• CDL or CLP required before entering job classification.
• Must possess acceptable MVR based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR 391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers requiring approx. 100 lb lift.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and move as needed.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles/straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch and follow instructions.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding requirements.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• May perform city driver or freight handler duties as needed.
• Operate freight handling equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Chain vehicle tires as required.
• Comply with laws and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
