Qualifications

• Must possess a class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or a CLP prior to entering job classification
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards
• Must meet all DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR for FMC regulations

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and/or straight trucks
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer
• Perform freight handling using motorized and manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck)
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and rope
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports
• Collect checks for freight charges and maintain related documentation
• Comply with hazmat regulations and ensure placarding matches shipments
• Communicate with Dispatch about delays, arrivals, equipment issues, etc.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service
• Communicate with customers to determine pick-up or delivery needs
• Identify opportunities and provide leads to sales
