Job summary

FedEx Freight is hiring a delivery driver to pick up and deliver between Service Centers and customers in a safe, timely manner. Responsibilities include operating straight trucks, ensuring on-time deliveries, securing freight, and performing routine inspections.

The role requires a CDL Class B with HazMat/Tank endorsements, 1 year of relevant driving experience or completion of the FedEx Driver Development Course, and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• CDL Class B with HazMat and Tank endorsements; automatic transmission CDL restriction allowed.
• 1 year of straight truck or similar vehicle experience within the last 3 years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must be 21 years old.
• Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must have acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Ability to read and understand route schedules.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to sit, bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate straight trucks.
• Meet delivery schedules while providing friendly, professional customer service.
• Secure freight for pick-up and delivery using pallets, straps, rope.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on equipment.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or problems.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Load, unload or assist in loading/unloading truck.
• Comply with hazardous materials regulations and DOT placarding.
