Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a CDL A driver to pick up and deliver freight between Service Centers and customers. You will perform pre-trip inspections, secure cargo, and assist in the selling process by generating leads for new business.

The role requires a Hazmat/Tank endorsement and adherence to DOT regulations; you may work with various trailer configurations and equipment as needed. Equal opportunity employer. ADA accommodations available.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements; automatic transmission allowed.
• At least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must possess an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under FMC regs.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles/triples if applicable.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous materials regulations and procedures.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or issues.
• Communicate with customers to determine pick-up or delivery needs, and solicit additional business.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• Ask for additional business from customers and provide leads to sales.
• May be required to perform tire chaining or other duties as needed.
