Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a CDL driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers, while supporting the selling process and building customer relationships.

The role requires a Class A CDL with hazmat/tank endorsements, DOT compliance, and the ability to perform pre-trip inspections, handle freight safely, and work both independently and as part of a team. Training provided where needed.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements; automatic transmission restriction allowed.
• Must have one year experience in the last three years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR 391.
• LCV qualifications apply in specified states.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds repeatedly.
• Ability to sit, bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles/triples where allowed.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and dollies as needed.
• Handle freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Secure freight in trailers with pallets, straps, or ropes.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and DOT procedures.
• Collect payments when required and maintain records.
• Coordinate with dispatch about delays, arrivals, and equipment issues.
• Communicate with customers to determine pickup/delivery needs.
• Solicit additional business leads for sales.
• May perform road driver or dock duties as needed.
