Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a professional driver to pickup and deliver freight between service centers and customers, supporting the selling process. This role requires a Class A CDL with hazmat and triple/quad endorsements, and prior driving experience.

You will perform pre-trip inspections, secure freight, and communicate with dispatch and customers. The position may involve long hours, varying shifts, and compliance with DOT regulations.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements.
• One (1) year of driving experience within the last three years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT FMC regulations under 391.
• Long combination vehicles in listed states require LCV standards.
• Ability to count and perform basic math.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds repeatedly.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and maneuver in/out of trucks.
• Ability to follow instructions and trainning; work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations and/or straight trucks.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight with pallets, straps, and ropes.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when needed.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous materials regulations and procedures.
• Collect payments for freight charges and maintain records.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays/arrivals.
• Interact with customers to determine pickup/delivery needs and solicit additional business.
• Provide internal and external customer service.
• Offer leads to sales for new opportunities.
• May be required to chain vehicle tires or perform other duties as needed.
