Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a professional driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers, supporting the selling process.

The role requires operating tractor-trailers, performing safety inspections, securing cargo, and maintaining accurate paperwork. Qualified candidates hold a Class A CDL with hazmat/tanker endorsements, have 1 year of recent driving experience or complete the FedEx Driver Development Course, and meet DOT requirements.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements; automatic restriction allowed.
• One year of experience in the last three years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have an acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT FMC regulations 391 requirements.
• LCV qualifications required for specified states; meet minimum standards.
• Ability to count and perform basic math.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds repeatedly.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and maneuver in/out of trucks.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer or straight trucks and doubles where applicable.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and dollies to/from tractor or trailer.
• Handle freight using forklift, pallet jack, or hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup or repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and procedures.
• Collect freight charges and maintain documentation.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or problems.
• Communicate with customers to determine needs and solicit additional business.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• Seek additional business leads for sales.
• May perform chaining of vehicle tires or other duties as needed.
• May cover road driver or dock roles if required.
• Comply with laws and company policies; perform other duties.
