Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a CDL-A driver to pick up and deliver trailers between Service Centers and turn-points using tractor-trailer combinations. This role requires strict adherence to safety regulations, DOT rules, and accurate documentation.

Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, trailer hook/unhook, daily logs, dispatch communication, and possible overnight schedules. Hazmat/tank endorsements and a clean MVR are required, with initiative and teamwork valued.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements. Automatic transmission restriction allowed.
• Must have 1 year experience within most recent 3 years, or successful completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have acceptable MVR based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT regulatory requirements under 391 FMC regs.
• LCV knowledge required for certain states; meets minimum standards.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook-up/break-down trailer sets requiring ~100 lbs lift, several times daily.
• Ability to sit for extended periods; bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team; demonstrates initiative.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer including doubles (and triples where applicable).
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch about delays or problems.
• Load and unload freight as required.
• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
