Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a CDL-equipped driver to pick up and deliver trailers between service centers and turn-points. You will operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles or triples where allowed, and perform pre-trip inspections and log daily activity.

Daily duties include loading/unloading freight, documenting shipments, and communicating with dispatch about delays, with potential overnight stays and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements.
• 1 year experience within most recent 3 years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have acceptable MVR based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT FMC regulations.
• Long combination vehicles (LCV) operation requires qualification in listed states.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook-up and break down sets of trailers with ~100 lbs lift.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles/triples where applicable.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor or trailer.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch about delays/problems.
• May be required to perform chaining of vehicle tires.
• Load and unload freight as required.
