Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is looking for a professional truck driver to pick up and deliver trailers between Service Centers and turn-point locations using tractor-trailer combinations.

Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, hooking trailers, completing documents, maintaining logs, and adhering to DOT and company policies. Overnight shifts may occur and hazardous materials endorsement must be obtained within 120 days of offer.

Qualifications

• CDL-A with hazmat and tank endorsements required; automatic transmission allowed.
• 1 year experience within last 3 years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Acceptable MVR based on hiring standards.
• DOT FMC requirements under 391.
• LCV operation in AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD and UT; meet minimum standards.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift about 100 pounds for trailer hookups.
• Ability to sit, bend, twist, and climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Demonstrates initiative and motivation.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles/triples where applicable.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and dollies to/from tractor/trailer.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Comply with hazardous materials regulations and DOT procedures.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or issues.
• May perform chaining of tires.
• May perform duties of city driver or dock employee when needed.
• Load and unload freight as required.
• Comply with laws and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
