Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a CDL‑A driver to pick up and deliver trailers between service centers and turn-points. You will perform pre-trip inspections, hook/unhook trailers, manage logs, and ensure compliance with hazmat and DOT rules.

Role may include responsibilities of a city driver or dock employee when operationally necessary, with overnight stays possible. Compensation includes per-mile rates and hourly pay where applicable.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements; automatic transmission allowed.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in the most recent 3 years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have an acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT FMCSA Part 391 qualifications.
• Ability to operate long combination vehicles in specified states and meet LCV standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles/triples where applicable.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections of equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and convert dollies to/from tractor or trailer.
• Complete required documentation and daily logs accurately.
• Comply with hazardous materials regulations and DOT rules.
• Communicate with dispatch about delays, arrivals, or problems.
• Load and unload freight as needed.
• Follow all laws, regulations, and company policies.
• May perform city driver or dock duties when required.
• Possible chaining of tires as needed.
