Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a Class A CDL driver to pick up and deliver freight between Service Centers and customers, while supporting the sales process. You will perform pre-trip inspections, hook/unhook trailers, operate various truck configurations, and handle freight with appropriate equipment.

The role requires HazMat and Tank endorsements, a solid MVR, and adherence to DOT regulations. Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of recent driving experience or completion of FedEx Freight Driver

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, HazMat and Tank endorsements.
• Automatic transmission restriction allowed.
• 1 year experience within last 3 years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must possess acceptable MVR based on hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under 391 FMC.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles/triples where applicable.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Move freight using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck as needed.
• Secure freight in trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
• Collect cash or checks for freight charges and maintain documentation.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch about delays, arrivals, or problems.
• Interact with customers to determine pickup/delivery needs and solicit additional business.
• Provide excellent internal and external customer service.
