Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is hiring for a CDL driver responsible for picking up and delivering freight between service centers and customers while supporting the sales process.

The role requires operating various tractor-trailer configurations, conducting safety inspections, and ensuring proper freight handling and documentation. Candidates must have a Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat, and tank endorsements and meet DOT requirements.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements.
• Minimum 1 year experience within the last 3 years or successful completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 391 FMC regulations.
• Long combination vehicles (LCV) qualifications for specific states as listed (AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD, UT).

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles (and triples where applicable) and/or straight trucks.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Perform freight handling using equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
• Collect cash or checks for freight charges and maintain documentation.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays, arrivals, or problems.
• Communicate with customers to determine pick-up/delivery needs and solicit additional business.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service; solicit leads for sales opportunities.
• May be required to perform chaining of tires and duties of road driver or dock employee as needed.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies; perform other duties as required.
