Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a CDL A driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers and support the selling process. You will operate tractor-trailer combinations, perform daily pre-trip inspections, hook/unhook trailers, and handle freight using forklifts and hand trucks.

This role requires hazmat/tanker endorsements, a clean MVR, and compliance with DOT regulations. You will communicate with dispatch and customers, seek additional business, and maintain accurate

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements.
• Minimum 1 year experience within the last 3 years or successful completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under 391 FMC.
• LCV qualifications for listed states.
• Ability to count and perform basic math.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to sit, bend, twist, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer including doubles and triples; consider exceptions where applicable.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and convertor dollies.
• Freight handling using forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and procedures.
• Collect payments for freight charges and maintain records.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays/arrivals.
• Communicate with customers to determine pick-up/delivery needs and solicit additional business.
• Provide strong internal and external customer service.
• Request additional business and refer leads to sales.
• May perform truck tire chainups when required.
• May cover road driver or dock duties as needed.
• Comply with laws and company policies; perform other duties.
