Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a CDL-A driver to pick up and deliver trailers between service centers and turn-points, operating tractor-trailers (including doubles/triples where applicable). Daily pre-trip inspections, safety checks, and hazard-material compliance are essential.

Ideal candidates meet DOT FMC requirements, possess required endorsements, and can complete documentation, maintain logs, and coordinate with dispatch. Overnight stays may be required and lifting approx.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements; automatic transmission allowed.
• Must have 1 year experience in the last 3 years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT 391 FMC regulations.
• LCV qualification may apply in listed states; meet minimum standards if operating LCV.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down sets of trailers with approx. 100 lb lift.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training; work independently or as a team.
• Demonstrates initiative and motivation.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles; and triples where applicable.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Comply with hazardous materials regulations and procedures.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or problems.
• Load and unload freight as required.
• Drive long distances day and night in all weather; may require overnight stays.
• May perform job duties of a city driver or dock employee when needed.
