Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a Driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers, supporting the selling process and ensuring customer satisfaction.

You will operate tractor-trailer combinations, perform pre-trip inspections, handle freight securely, and complete required documentation. A Class A CDL is required with hazmat endorsements to be obtained within 120 days; one year of recent driving experience or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development is needed.

Qualifications

• Ability to count and perform basic math.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds several times a week.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training.
• Ability to work independently or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles/triples and/or straight trucks.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Handle freight using motorized and manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous materials regulations and procedures.
• Collect cash or checks for freight charges and maintain documentation.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays, arrivals, or equipment problems.
• Communicate with customers to determine pick-up/delivery needs and solicit additional business.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
