Job summary

Qualifications

• CDL Class A with double/triple, hazmat and tanker endorsements; automatic restriction allowed.
• One year of recent experience or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT FMC regs under 391.
• LCV qualification for listed states; meet standards.
• Ability to count and perform basic math.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds several times a week.
• Ability to sit for extended periods; bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer or straight trucks.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and dollies.
• Handle freight with motorized/manual equipment.
• Secure freight inside trailers (pallets, straps, rope).
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation/reports.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations.
• Collect payments for freight charges and maintain docs.
• Follow dispatch instructions and report delays or problems.
• Communicate with customers to determine needs and solicit more business.
• Provide excellent internal and external customer service.
• Solicit additional business leads for sales.
