Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is hiring a driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers, supporting the selling process.

You will operate tractor-trailers, perform pre-trip inspections, and secure freight inside trailers while maintaining safety and compliance. The role requires a Class A CDL with hazmat and tank endorsements, DOT regulatory knowledge, and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements (automatic transmission allowed).
• 1 year of recent experience or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR 391.
• LCV qualifications for multiple-trailer states as listed (AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD, UT).

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer including doubles/triples and straight trucks.
• Conduct daily pre-trip and safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and dollies.
• Move freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and procedures.
• Handle freight charges and route documentation.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or equipment issues.
• Coordinate with customers on pick-up/delivery needs and solicit additional business.
• Provide excellent internal and external customer service.
• Request additional business and pass leads to sales for new opportunities.
• May perform tire chaining or duties of road driver/dock employee when needed.
• Comply with all laws and company policies; perform other duties as required.
