Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a CDL‑A driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers while supporting the sales process.

You will operate tractor‑trailer combos (including doubles/triples as applicable) and perform daily pre‑trip inspections to ensure safe operation. Responsibilities include handling freight with appropriate equipment, securing loads, completing documentation, and complying with DOT and hazardous materials regulations.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with double/triple, hazardous materials and tank endorsements; automatic restriction allowed.
• One year of experience in the last three years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under 391 FMC regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles/triples and straight trucks.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and convert dollies.
• Move freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks.
• Secure freight in trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Handle damaged freight and complete required documentation.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
• Collect payments for freight charges and maintain records.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays, arrivals, or equipment issues.
• Interact with customers to determine pickup/delivery needs and solicit additional business.

Skills

CDL Class A with hazmat endorsements

Ability to count and do basic math
