Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a CDL-A qualified driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers. You will support the selling process and ensure accurate documentation while maintaining safety standards on all routes.

Expect to operate tractor-trailer combinations, perform daily inspections, and comply with DOT regulations. The role requires strong communication with dispatch and customers, with opportunities to contribute to additional business opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL with double/triple, hazardous materials and tank endorsements.
• Automatic transmission CDL restriction allowed.

Responsibilities

• Drive tractor-trailer combinations between Service Centers and customers.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and dollies to/from tractor or trailer.
• Handle freight with motorized and manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
• Collect payments for freight charges when required and maintain documentation.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or issues.
• Communicate with customers to determine pickup/delivery needs and solicit additional business.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service.
• May perform chaining of tires; may cover road driver or dock duties as needed.
