Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc is seeking a qualified CDL A driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers, supporting the selling process and ensuring reliable, on-time service.

You will operate tractors and trailers (including doubles where applicable), perform daily pre-trip inspections, secure loads, document shipments, and communicate with dispatch and customers to coordinate pickup and delivery while complying with DOT regulations.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements.
• One year experience within last three years or completion of FedEx Driver Development Course.
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under FMC regulations 391.
• LCV qualifications for listed states must be met for operation in those states.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles (and triples where applicable) and/or straight trucks.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and dollies to/from tractors/trailers.
• Handle freight using forklifts, pallet jacks and hand trucks.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous materials regulations and procedures.
• Collect payments for freight charges and maintain documentation.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or issues.
• Communicate with customers to arrange pick-up/delivery and solicit additional business.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service and upsell opportunities.
• May perform chaining of tires or other duties as needed.
