Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a field-based National Catastrophe (NATCAT) Field Claims Specialist to respond to major disaster events nationwide, including hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, and floods. You will travel up to 80% of the time, perform on-site damage assessments, determine coverage, and guide policyholders through the claims process with empathy.

You will own the full lifecycle of claims from intake to resolution, work in catastrophe environments, and interact with customers in emotionally

Qualifications

• Prior insurance field/property claims handling or adjusting experience.
• Proficiency with Xactimate and prior estimate writing experience.
• Demonstrated ability to manage claims of varying complexity from start to finish.
• Experience working on-site in catastrophe (CAT) environments.
• Strong customer service orientation, especially in high-stress situations.
• Capable of independent field work with high-volume claims and rapid deployment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site property inspections and damage assessments in catastrophe zones.
• Investigate and resolve moderate to complex property claims from start to finish.
• Determine policy coverage and prepare estimates using Xactimate.
• Own the full lifecycle of claims, including reserving, supplements, and documentation.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory and internal standards and ensure timely resolutions.
• Provide proactive, consistent updates to customers throughout the claims process.
