Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a National Catastrophe (NATCAT) Field Claims Specialist to support Personal Lines by conducting on-site inspections and handling severe property claims nationwide. You will travel to disaster zones, assess damage, determine coverages, and guide policyholders through the claims process with empathy and clear communication.

The role emphasizes independent field work, rapid deployments, and collaboration with internal teams.

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
Xactimate knowledge and certification is expected.
Experience handling property claims and customer service in field/ CAT environments.

Responsibilities

Conduct on-site property inspections and damage assessments in catastrophe zones.
Investigate and resolve moderate to complex property claims from start to finish.
Determine policy coverage and prepare estimates using Xactimate.
Own the full lifecycle of claims, including reserving, supplements, and documentation.
Partner with internal teams (e.g., Special Investigations, Subrogation) as needed.
Maintain compliance with regulatory and internal standards while ensuring timely resolutions.
Provide proactive, consistent updates to customers throughout the claims process.
