Job summary

Nationwide is seeking an experienced National Catastrophe (NATCAT) Field Claims Specialist to support Personal Lines. You will travel nationwide to assess damage, determine coverage, and guide policyholders through the claims process with empathy.

Responsibilities include on-site inspections, complex claim resolution, and coordination with Special Investigations Unit. You’ll work independently in field CAT environments and may deploy for extended periods.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of insurance theory and practice
• Ability to assess property losses and determine coverage
• Strong customer-service orientation in high-stress environments

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site property inspections and damage assessments in catastrophe zones
• Investigate and resolve moderate to complex property claims from start to finish
• Determine policy coverage and prepare estimates using Xactimate
• Own the full lifecycle of claims including reserving, supplements, and documentation
• Provide proactive updates to customers throughout the claims process

Education

Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
