Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a National Catastrophe (NATCAT) Field Claims Specialist to respond to major disaster events nationwide, delivering hands-on support and guidance during recovery. You will travel to impacted areas up to 80% and assess property damage, determine coverage, and guide policyholders through the claims process.

The role emphasizes empathy, clear communication, and swift resolutions, with an emphasis on CAT environments, ladder inspections, and collaboration with internal teams.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years property claims experience; CAT environment preferred.
• Must be able to safely access rooftops and climb ladders.
• Strong customer service in high‑stress situations; excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site property inspections and damage assessments in catastrophe zones.
• Investigate and resolve moderate to complex property claims from start to finish.
• Determine policy coverage and prepare estimates using Xactimate.
• Own the full lifecycle of claims, including reserves and documentation.
• Partner with Special Investigations Unit and Subrogation as needed.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
• Provide proactive, consistent updates to customers throughout the claims process.
