Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a National Catastrophe (NATCAT) Field Claims Specialist to respond to major disaster events nationwide. The role involves traveling to impacted areas (up to 80%, often on short notice) to assess property damage, evaluate coverage, and guide policyholders through the claims process with empathy and professionalism.

You will engage customers directly in emotionally challenging situations, maintain regulatory compliance, and deliver timely, accurate outcomes.

Qualifications

• Prior insurance field/property claims handling or adjusting experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of catastrophe (CAT) environments and on-site inspections.
• Proficiency with Xactimate and prior estimate writing experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site property inspections and damage assessments in catastrophe zones.
• Investigate and resolve moderate to complex property claims from start to finish.
• Determine policy coverage and prepare estimates using Xactimate.
• Own the full lifecycle of claims, including reserving, supplements, and documentation.
• Provide proactive, consistent updates to customers throughout the claims process.
