Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a Field Claims Specialist II on the NATCAT Property team. The role involves traveling to disaster areas, performing on-site inspections, evaluating coverage, and guiding policyholders through the claims process with empathy.

You’ll handle the full lifecycle of claims, work across CAT environments, and coordinate with Special Investigations and Subrogation while maintaining regulatory compliance and timely resolutions.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of related property claims experience
• Experience in CAT environments
• Ability to climb and inspect rooftops using a ladder
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site property inspections and damage assessments in catastrophe zones
• Investigate and resolve moderate to complex property claims from start to finish
• Determine policy coverage and prepare estimates using tools like Xactimate
• Own the full lifecycle of claims, including reserving, supplements, and documentation
• Partner with internal teams (e.g., Special Investigations, Subrogation) as needed
• Maintain compliance with regulatory and internal standards while ensuring timely resolutions
• Provide proactive, consistent updates to customers throughout the claims process
• May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
