Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a Field Claims Specialist II for its National Catastrophe (NATCAT) team to respond to major disasters across the United States. This field-based role involves on-site inspections, complex claim handling, and high customer engagement with empathy and professionalism.

You'll travel up to 80% to disaster zones, assess property damage, apply policy coverages, and manage claims from start to finish, including reserving, supplements, and documentation.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of related property claims experience or comparable job experience preferred.
• Experience in a customer service environment, including flexible work schedules and extended work hours preferred.
• Experience working on-site in catastrophe (CAT) environments.
• Strong communication and emotional intelligence to support customers in challenging situations.
• Ability to manage a high volume of claims in the field with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site property inspections and damage assessments in catastrophe zones.
• Investigate and resolve moderate to complex property claims from start to finish.
• Determine policy coverage and prepare estimates using Xactimate.
• Own the full lifecycle of claims, including reserving, supplements, and documentation.
• Provide proactive, consistent updates to customers throughout the claims process.
• Travel to impacted areas up to 80%, often on short notice.
