Job summary

Thompson Machinery in Tennessee is seeking a General Mechanic - Rebuild to join our service team. You will set up, repair, diagnose, and maintain Caterpillar diesel powered construction equipment, often working independently under guidance from service mentors.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, plus diesel training and 2+ years of hands-on experience. Read manuals and diagrams, use test equipment, and deliver safe, high-quality repairs with excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; diesel/engine training preferred.
• Two+ years hands-on diesel equipment/engine experience with diagnostics.
• Must have own basic mechanical hand tools and a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Set up, repair, service, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and installation of replacement parts on Caterpillar diesel powered construction equipment.
• Work largely independently or with guidance from service mentors.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, service and safety manuals, and schematics; use test equipment.
• Provide high quality repair service in a safe, timely manner, delivering value for customers.
