Job summary

Thompson Machinery in Clarksville, TN, seeks a General Mechanic/Service Shop Technician to set up, repair, service, diagnose and install parts on Caterpillar diesel-powered equipment in our service shops.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of hands-on diesel equipment experience, can read manuals and schematics, use test equipment, and demonstrates professionalism and strong customer service. CDL may be required for some field positions.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of hands-on equipment/engine experience.
• Diesel engines and construction equipment troubleshooting.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL may be required for some field positions.
• Ability to work overtime including weekends.
• Own a complete set of basic mechanical hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret technical instructions, service manuals, safety policies and procedures.
• Work with mechanical, hydraulic and electric/electronic schematics and wiring diagrams; use test equipment.
• Provide high-quality repair service, respond to customer needs safely and promptly, maximize value of work performed.
